First of all, why this, and why now? I am a 49 year old musician, and have been somewhat disappointed with the difficulties encountered in trying to find new music. I live in the Washington, DC suburbs, and yet have made most of my discoveries via English music magazines, Uncut and Mojo. Both of these are beautifully done, and easily found, at least here in the DC area. Each also attaches a cd to each issue, with either covers of a particular artist's songs, songs an artist cites as influences, or just their editorial staff's favorite songs from music being released that month. It's kinda sad that I have to find bands who live less than six hours from me by car through magazines written 3,000 miles away. Certainly, our popular music press tends to target a much younger demographic than I now inhabit. I can only assume that there are many other people like me out there. As such, I will be attempting to bring to you as much awesome music as I can. I will begin with the things I love, and will then move on to new things as I find them. I hope you like it...

Also, I have come to the realization that every music has it's place and time. While there are many commonalities which would transcend that, there generally is a strong connection between the time and place which creates this music. I would tend to view history as human nature (which is broad, but not essentially changing) spread across the different times and circumstances which history presents. I have had the experience of watching my sons see a comedic movie I'd loved in the past, only to find that they were not in the least amused.
